Killegland Goal Post Policy
🔐 Purpose
- Ensure safe use of all goalposts during training and matches.
- Protect players, coaches, and volunteers from avoidable injuries.
- Maintain club equipment to a high standard across all age groups.
🧱 Types of Goalposts Covered
- Fixed full‑size posts (11‑a‑side)
- Portable aluminium or PVC goals
- Small‑sided goals (5‑, 7‑, 9‑a‑side
🛡️ Safety Rules
- All portable goals must be anchored using weights, pegs, or sandbags before any activity begins.
- No player may move a goalpost under any circumstances — only coaches or designated adults.
- Goals must never be climbed on, swung from, or used for play outside football activity.
- Damaged or unstable goals must be removed from use immediately and reported.
🔧 Set‑Up & Take‑Down Procedures
- Two adults minimum must move any portable goal.
- Check locking mechanisms and crossbar stability before each session.
- Anchor goals before players arrive to the pitch.
- Store goals safely after use — folded, locked, or placed against a fence to prevent tipping.
📋 Match Day Responsibilities
- Home team coach verifies goal safety before kick‑off.
- Referee conducts a final inspection as part of the pre‑match check.
- Any safety concern stops play until corrected.
👦 Youth Player Guidelines
- Players must not move or adjust goals at any time.
- Coaches explain goalpost safety at the start of each season.
- Parents reminded of supervision rules during training and matches.
📝 Reporting & Maintenance
- All damage must be logged with the club equipment officer.
- Quarterly inspections carried out by a designated committee member.
- Unsafe goals removed from circulation until repaired or replaced.
